My philosophy

I teach people of any age to cope with their stress thoughtfully and intentionally. When people understand their physiological response to stress, they can interrupt the stress response cycle and respond more effectively and adaptively to stressful events.

In an educational setting, kids learn how to listen to their body’s signals for stress and strong emotion. Through engaging exercises, I teach age-appropriate skills and strategies to build resilience and coping skills.

When I’m presenting to educators, helping adults understand the kids’ stress response builds compassion for every human that’s struggling. And who isn’t struggling? Viewing behaviors from a nervous system lens helps adults de-pathologize behavior and build a problem solving framework where supporting skill-building is paramount.

In a corporate setting, stress management primarily helps the individual build stress resilience. This resilience has cascading effect of improved mental and physical health of your employees. Time spent on personal development boosts a person’s capacity for teamwork, improves relational problem solving, expands compassion for others’ struggles and ultimately increases your business’s productivity.

Workshops

Stress Management 101

Contemporary society bombards us with stress in ways our physiology was never designed to handle. We delve into the stress cycle and the importance of completing the stress cycle. We cover many strategies for reducing the stress load and practical tools for managing life so that the stressors we can control are tamed.

Anger Transformation

Anger can derail anyone. Learning to tame it when it shows up as a misplaced emotion is invaluable. Learning to use it productively can motivate us to affect change in the world.

Five Keys to Resilience

We proudly talk about how resilient our kids are, when really, they’re just barely scraping by, gritting their teeth and getting through the challenges. True resilience is more than that. Let’s look at what happened in our society and how we can actually build resilience with practical strategies and mental health techniques.

Growth Mindset

We’ll go deep into the Growth vs Fixed Mindset concepts that were popularized by Carol Dweck. Many schools and workplaces have adopted the basic concepts, but find that the theory needs more than just posters reminding us to think '“not yet.” It’s time to bring in practical tools to build the internal belief that each person has the agency and ability to learn and grow.

Stress Management and Emotional Regulation are teachable skills.

  • Your team can learn these skills.

  • Your teachers can manage their classrooms more effectively knowing these skills.

  • Your students can succeed and communicate their needs more clearly with improved emotional regulation skills.
